Customization of the Prioritization 2 x 2 is a Professional or Enterprise Plan Feature

The Prioritization 2 x 2 is a highly used Jibility feature to assess and visualize the priority of your initiatives quickly. By default, the prioritization 2 x 2 is configured to prioritize your initiatives based on Value versus Risk/Effort, as shown below.

You can now configure or customize the Jibility prioritization 2 x 2 to meet your organization's needs. For example, you can change the default to Impact vs Risk or Strategic Alignment vs Effort.

There are three ways that you can customize the prioritization 2 x 2

1) Select from a list of predefined 2 x 2 (Simple)

2) Edit the title and labels of the 2 x 2 (Simple)

3) Configure the parameters of the 2 x 2 (Advanced)

Opening the prioritization 2 x 2 customization popup

To configure the prioritization 2 x 2, please select the "Edit Roadmap Properties" icon (the pencil shown below) in the top right corner of your opened roadmap document.

In the Roadmap Properties popup, select the Prioritise 2 x 2 tab, as shown below.

Select from a list of predefined 2 x 2 (Simple)

Jibility provides a few predefined 2 x 2 prioritizations such as Value versus Risk/Effort or Important versus Urgent, to save time.

You can choose to use the predefined 2 x 2 as is or customise these to suit.

To open and select from a list of predefined 2 x 2, click on the "Select Predefined 2x2" button, as shown below.

A popup is displayed with a list of predefined 2 x 2 for you to choose from, shown below.

Select the 2 x 2 required, and the parameters for the chosen 2 x 2 are configured for your roadmap.

Edit the title and labels of the 2 x 2 (Simple)

The prioritization 2 x 2, whether set by default or chosen from our predefined list, is customizable.

1) Vertical and Horizontal Title

The vertical and horizontal title is changed by clicking on the pencil icon next to the title name. In the following example, the vertical title is Value and the horizontal title is Risk/Effort.

Selecting the pencil next to the vertical title "Value" will display an edit screen like the following

2) 2 x 2 Quadrant Title

The 2 x 2 has quadrants: top left, top right, bottom left and bottom right. These quadrants have a title shown in the example below: Implement, Challenge, Reconsider and Possible, respectively.
โ€‹
A quadrant title is not mandatory.

3) 2 x 2 Vertical and Horizontal Labels

The vertical and horizontal labels indicate the range of values that can be assigned to an initiative when placed onto the 2 x 2.

In the following example, the horizontal label is high on the left and low on the right. This indicates that an initiative towards the left has a higher Risk/Effort than an initiative on the right.

NOTE: The Vertical and Horizontal Labels do not define the actual value assigned to an initiative. The value assigned is configured by the Horizontal and Vertical Label Values described in the next section.

Configure the parameters of the 2 x 2 (Advanced)

The prioritization 2 x 2 may be further customized by adjusting the parameters highlighted below.

Label Value Type

The rating value assigned to an initiative could be a number or a text label.

After an initiative is placed onto the 2 x 2, a calculated rating value is assigned to the initiative. This rating value is shown in the initiative properties panel, as illustrated below, or in some of the published documents, such as Initiative Summary.

The rating value could be a text label such as Very High, High, Medium, Low and Very Low, which is derived from the vertical or horizontal position of the initiative.

The rating value could also be numeric, where a number is assigned based on the position of the initiative, as shown below.

Horizontal Value Order

For the 2 x 2, the vertical axis can be of numeric type, and its value are always starting from a low number at the bottom and to a high at the top.

For the horizontal axis, you can choose whether the left to right order is low to high or high to low.

Here are two examples of a horizontal value order from high to low and from low to high.

Lasso anchor to

By default, the lasso is anchored to the top right corner, but this can be changed to anchor to the top left, bottom left or bottom right corner instead.

Horizontal Label Value (comma separated)

When an initiative is placed onto the 2 x 2, a rating value is assigned to the initiative. If the Label Value Type is set to Text then you can define the list of possible label names given to the initiative based on its horizontal position.

The Horizontal Label Value field is a text field in that you list all the possible label values separated by a comma. Some examples of label values are

1) Very Low, Low, Medium, High and Very High

2) Extra Small, Small, Medium, Large and Extra Large

3) Low, Medium, and High

4) Sooner and Later

Jibility assigns the label value based on the initiative's horizontal position and the number of labels defined. In the following example, the Horizontal Label Values are Very Low, Low, Medium, High and Very High. The horizontal axis starts with a zero value and ends with one on the right. Given that there are five labels, each label is evenly assigned a value range from 0 to 0.2 for Very Low, >0.2 to 0.4 for Low, >0.4 to 0.6 for Medium, > 0.6 to 0.8 for High and >0.8 to 1 for Very High. The horizontal position of an initiative (the dot) determines the label name assigned. Therefore initiative A is Very Low, B is Low, C is Medium, D is High and E is Very High.

The following examples describe more scenarios when there are three or two labels in the list.

Note, the Horizontal Value Order determines whether the numeric value rating for calculation is from 0 to 1 or 1 to 0 (left to right) on the horizontal axis.

Vertical Label Value (comma separated)

Similar to the Horizontal Label Values, the Vertical Label Value defines a list of values assigned to an initiative based on its position on the vertical axis.

Unlike the Horizontal Label Values, which may be configured with a rating value from Low to High or High to Low (by setting the Horizontal Value Order), the vertical rating value is always from Low to High from the bottom to the top of the vertical axis (respectively).

Horizontal Max Value and Vertical Max Value

When the Label Value Type field is set to Numeric, the Horizontal Max Value and Vertical Max Value fields are shown, as illustrated below.

The Horizontal and Vertical Max Value sets the maximum value that can be assigned to an initiative based on its position on the 2 x 2.

In the following example, the Horizontal Max Value is 10, and the Vertical Max Value is 5.

Based on the position of each initiative, the value assigned are

Initiative

A

2

1

B

2

3

C

3

5

D

E

Note that the horizontal axis can be switched from Low to High to High to Low using the Horizontal Value Order field.
